EN - I'm getting more and more interested in historical patterns, especially the ones from viking time and earlier : Migration period and Iron Age. It's so fascinating to think they have been woven so long ago ! During this winter I'm weaving some of these patterns, all quite simple, here are the newly finished bands ! (Except for the blue Birka, they are available in the shop.) Tiny Oseberg (Norway, 9th century), a very easy thus quick pattern, and so thin ! EN - A pattern inspired by the Birka finds (9th-10th century Sweden, original is brocaded silver on silk), I just love it ! EN - Snartemo 2 (6th century Norway), the little brother of the wonderful and so complex Snartemo 1 (soon to be tested). This one is very easy and relaxing to weave, and I love to add little variations when I change direction.

(français plus bas) EN - I'm currently working on a project which is very nice but takes quite a lot of time : I'm weaving several meters of the Hallstatt 3 pattern in very thin swedish wool (with a hint of mulberry silk, 20% in the green thread). This is an order from a friend of mine, the incredible Runahild from Norway. She's a talented composer, singer and musician, you maybe already know her band Eliwagar (if not, go check it !). I can't wait to send her the two fine bands I've woven and see what she'll do with them !
(français plus bas) It was a old dream for me to learn how to spin with a spindle... I had wool, I had two spindles, I just had to decide when to start. I started yesterday ! A friend gave me some rough wool some years ago. I took away all dirty parts and washed it carefully. I picked up some wild teasels (Dipsacus fullonum) and hanged them to dry for several weeks. I took off all remainings of dried flowers and seeds and I carded the wool with the teasels. I got a fluffy soft white cloud of wool... Then I prepared my turkish spindle and began to spin for the first time ! I used this tutorial and this one (sorry, they're both in french but here is one in english and there are probably many more on the Internet). Well... It's difficult ! My thread is far from regular and I have to stop very often to untangle the wool-to-be-spun... but it's fascinating to do and I'm having a lot of pleasure with this new step in the process of textile making !
