(svenska nedan på sidan) (français plus bas) EN - I got a special order in the start of 2018 : weaving a band for the birth of a baby ! It's following an old slavic tradition : the band is attached to the cradle to move it to help the baby sleep, and then the growing child will wear the band through important events of its life. I was very touched to weave such a meaningful band. The chosen pattern is a doubled Birka-inspired and the wool is plant-dyed by Micky's Workshop.

(svenska nedan på sidan) (français plus bas) EN - New belt available ! The 8 different patterns are inspired by the different Birka finds. I was first planning to weave only the B12... but I couldn't resist to try some variations and I really loved to alternate them like this. It makes the weaving much more interesting ! This band was the opportunity to tackle an old weird idea of mine : that Birka patterns don't render well in green. Silly me ! This green thin wool dyed with plants by Atelier de Micky is gorgeous and shows the patterns really well. The band is for sale, with some special conditions due to the presence of swastikas - please check the page Boutique for more informations !
EN - I spent these last days weaving quite a special order : a simple Birka pattern in thin cotton thread... for the wedding costume of a friend. 4 meters later, here's the band for the groom, who gets my warm thanks for his order and wishes of happiness !
EN - I'm getting more and more interested in historical patterns, especially the ones from viking time and earlier : Migration period and Iron Age. It's so fascinating to think they have been woven so long ago ! During this winter I'm weaving some of these patterns, all quite simple, here are the newly finished bands ! (Except for the blue Birka, they are available in the shop.) Tiny Oseberg (Norway, 9th century), a very easy thus quick pattern, and so thin ! EN - A pattern inspired by the Birka finds (9th-10th century Sweden, original is brocaded silver on silk), I just love it ! EN - Snartemo 2 (6th century Norway), the little brother of the wonderful and so complex Snartemo 1 (soon to be tested). This one is very easy and relaxing to weave, and I love to add little variations when I change direction.
